Solveig and her family (Roy and Lisa's late parents and brother) board the Oslofjord passenger ship headed for America in 1954.

Solveig's B & B took its name from the host's mother, Solveig, who emigrated to America after growing up in the house during the Depression and WWII. Your host, Roy, has moved from America to Norway and opened the doors to Solveig's house for guests from far and near. Meanwhile, his sister, Lisa, lives in Wisconsin.

WORLD WAR II CONNECTIONS
The German Army occupied Norway and built an observation station behind the back fence to view the Oslofjord. Surviving buildings preserve the flavor and inspire the name: "Tyskertoppen" (Germans Hill).

Resisting pressure to rent a room to Nazis, the Hansens rented it to a patriot—a member of the famed Underground. Ask for his room.

Solveig Hansen, the teenager who spent the war years not knowing the true identity of the roomer who shared the top floor, later met and married Arnold Everson, an American G.I. from the WWII-era "Viking" battalion - the 99th.
